Kia Carens Clavis EV Launched in India at ₹17.99 Lakh, & Two Battery Pack Options

The Clavis EV gets a driving range of 490 kilometres on a single charge, and the bookings for the Clavis EV are said to start from July 22, 2025.

Kia has officially introduced the highly awaited Carens Clavis EV in India. The EV boasts two range options, one the Standard and another, the Long Range, with prices ranging from ₹17.99 lakh to ₹21.50 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on configuration. The Clavis EV, with its sleek design, feature-rich cabin, and top-class performance, is expected to be the ideal mix between daily practicality and modern electric mobility.

Bookings for the Carens EV will start on July 22, 2025. Notably, Kia has claimed that the Carens Clavis EV would be supported by a dedicated EV charging network and EV-specific touchpoints all around the country.

Power, Battery, and Range

Clavis EV offers two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, and comes with a driving range of up to 490 kilometres per charge. It uses a single motor, just like the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. The EV delivers 171 PS of peak power and 255 Nm of torque, which are transferred to the front wheels. That is enough to accelerate the Clavis EV from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, a remarkable time for a family-friendly electric SUV.  And it charges from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes using the 100 kW DC fast charger. This should be a key point for people who travel frequently and want quick top-ups on the road.

Design, Interior, & Exterior

The design is simple yet confident, with a closed-off EV-style grille, LED DRLs, hefty cladding, and a high ground clearance. Despite its tiny size, the Clavis EV appears bold and SUV-like. It’s a new addition to Kia’s EV lineup, sitting just below the larger EV6 in terms of size.

Inside, the Clavis EV gets an adequate mix of space and features like:

  • 26.6-inch dual panoramic display
  • A floating console with a premium sliding cover and cup holder
  • A double D-cut steering wheel
  • BOSE premium sound system with 8 speakers
  • Ice Cube MFR LED headlamps
  • A 64 colour ambient light & footwell lamp
  • Kia’s i-Pedal system
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities for both internal and external use
  • A shift-by-wire gear selector for a clean
  • Regenerative braking
  • Active air flaps boost aerodynamics
  • 25-litre trunk provides additional storage

The cabin is designed to be airy and functional, with a flat floor, rear AC vents, and foldable rear seats.

Safety Features & Rivals

Kia has packed the Clavis EV with a strong set of safety features:

  • 6 airbags
  • ADAS Level 2 with 20 autonomous safety functions (like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.)
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • 360-degree camera
  • Smart cruise control with Stop & Go
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Electronic stability control
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Level 2 ADAS and 20 advanced autonomous security features

The Carens Clavis EV will compete directly with EVs such as the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, BYD eMAX 7 (formerly e6), and the upcoming Hyundai Creta. With its extended range, family-friendly size, and outstanding feature list, it’s positioned as an excellent choice for anyone looking to enter the electric SUV market without breaking the bank.
