Mercedes-Benz launches the locally assembled EQS SUV in India, offering luxury features, 544bhp, and an impressive 809km range.
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the EQS SUV after starting the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV a few days ago. While Mercedes Maybach is imported completely built-up, the EQS SUV is made in India making it the second fully electric vehicle by Mercedes-Benz to be made in India apart from the EQS sedan. It is significant to mention here that the EQS SUV has been assembled in India second only to the USA.
Design and Exterior
The EQS SUV is the third model to follow this route with the Maybach having the aggressive designs but more details on the EQS SUV. The front end features a blanked off panel which is either side of the LED headlamps and a LED light bar running across the width of the car. At the rear, one gets the modern and classy look that comes with the full-width 3D LED bar.
Interior Features
Inside, the EQS SUV comes with Mercedes Benz’s state-of-art infotainment system known as MBUX hyperscreen which amalgamates three screens as one huge glazed surface just like the Eqs sedan. Such features as soft-close door, puddle lamp, Burmester sound system, five-zone climate-control and the 11.6 inch-OHP monitor at the rear are some of the luxurious amenities seen in the SUV. Other features added include the ADAS Level 2 and second row captains chairs that are recommended.
Powertrain and Performance
The EQS SUV gets a 122kWh battery pack and has a dual motor powertrain with a capacity of 544bhp. This makes it possible to have the SUV going at a speed of from 0-100km/h in a span of 4.7 seconds only. The company says it has a real-world range of around 809 km on a single charge as per the ARAI tests, and it is certainly one of the most competitive in its SUV class.
Competition
The car rivals the BMW iX and the Audi Q8 e-tron and is also Mercedes-Benz’s answer to its own EQE 500 SUV offered at Rs 139 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
