In a spectacular debut in India at the Auto Expo 2025, electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast from VietNamese unveiled an impressive portfolio of electric two-wheelers (e2Ws) and electric SUVs. The Indian scooters electric market is driven by tremendous growth and this is the right time for VinFast to enter this market because the push is both strategic and forward-looking. In the article, the company demonstrated six electric scooters (Evo S, Theon S, Klara S, Feliz S, Vento S, and DrgnFly) with distinct features tailored toward different customer demands. This blog establishes a background of what these scooters hold and their possible effects on the Indian market.
VinFast’s Entry into India
VinFast made its debut in the Indian motor car market with a variety of electric vehicles (EVs) including SUVs and scooters. While SUVs like VinFast VF 7 and VinFast VF 6 caught the eye, the focus also remained on a two-wheeler product space. As e2Ws have taken the Indian automotive market by storm with two-wheelers holding their dominant position, VinFast’s interest in e2Ws is a well-thought-out one.
The Electric Scooter Lineup:
- Evo S
- Theon S
- Klara S
- Feliz S
- Vento S
- DrgnFly
All the scooters are provided with a 3.5 kWh LFP lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and have a good advertised range performance from 190-210 km per charge (from model to model). However, real-world conditions may yield slightly lower figures.
Evo S: Retro Charm
Evo S is differentiated by its classic styling that will appeal to riders who like to see a blend of nostalgia and technology. It is remarkably visible by a bright yellow colour in the expo, and it has a telescopic front fork, etc., and a small size. Its vintage look is enhanced by the globe mirrors and luminous colours.
Theon S: Distinctive Design
The Theon S is one with a very distinct and angular aesthetic and clearly defined cutting lines. It is a system of dual-projector lamps mounted on the apron which gives a better view. Featuring 16-inch front and rear wheels this scooter offers greater suspension travel than the VinFast competitors. Its chain-driven setup further adds to its distinctiveness.
Klara S: Family-Friendly Design
The Klara S blends retro and modern elements seamlessly. It has a large area floorboard and wide seating which makes it suitable for families or commuter riders. This scooter has a distinctive, hexagonal shape for the headlamp, with silver detailing on the body panels as well as a wheelbase of 1,313 mm for increased stability.
Feliz S: Sporty and Compact
Specifically for urban commuters, the Feliz S has a sporty look with integrated LED lighting and two riding modes, Eco and Sport. It is small in size and has, in particular, a wide grab rail for greater usability. With 16-inch front tyres 14-inch rear tyres and front disc brakes, it is a safe car.
Vento S: Subtle Elegance
For female cyclists and those who prefer clean designs, the Vento S comes with pentagonal headlamps and cast wheels. It also has Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) technology with high performance. Like the Feliz S, it offers Eco and Sport riding modes.
DrgnFly: The Electric Bicycle
Besides scooters, VinFast has unveiled the electric bike DrgnFly at the exposition. This is a versatile, general-purpose specification with chunky mountain bike-style tyres, spoked wheels, dual disc brakes, and a small headlamp. This e-cycle is also pedal-powered by a 47.2V, 13.6Ah battery.
Performance Highlights
All VinFast-type electric scooters have the same 3.5 kWh LFP batteries, which are strong and efficient in energy use. Maximum speeds range from 70-90 km/h and vary depending on the type of model, thereby enabling competition in the Indian electric scooter market.
For urban commuters seeking convenience, these scooters offer practical ranges suitable for daily use. However, in the case of real-world conditions, the performance may be influenced by, e.g., area, motorcycle load and riding habit. Market Potential in India
With India’s growing market for electric two-wheelers, it is the perfect area for VinFast’s product offerings. Now with government subsidies encouraging EV adoption and gasoline prices discouraging the purchase of conventional combustion engines, VinFast’s range may attract a large share of Indian consumers.
However, despite patenting designs like that of the Klara S in India, a potential indicator of future launches, VinFast has not officially announced plans to sell these scooters in the country yet.
Challenges Ahead
- Established Competition: Companies such as Ather Energy, Ola Electric, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Hero Vida and Ampere among others have an established presence.
- Pricing Strategy: Competitive pricing will be critical to attract cost-conscious Indian consumers.
- Infrastructure: The construction of a strong sales network and charging infrastructure will play a key role in success.
VinFast’s entry at Auto Expo 2025 highlights the company’s ambition to become a key contributor to the Indian EV revolution. Featuring chic looks, sophisticated features, and encouraging performance statistics, its scooters are capable of shaking up the market when launched appropriately.
