Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is expected to give a stated driving range of more than 500 kilometres per charge; in India, launch in H2 2025.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, which debuted at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, has now made an appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Delhi. The electric SUV is expected to be released on the domestic market later this year. The midsize electric SUV is already being booked in key global markets.
The interior of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is designed with a low-set, horizontal instrument panel for improved visibility and boasts an elevated seating position. Like the e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV will be produced at SMC’s Gujarat plant and it will be shipped to international markets as well.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is built on a variation of Toyota’s 27PL platform, which shares significant design features with the e Vitara. Its design eliminates floor cross members, freeing up space for the batteries while keeping a spacious cabin. It will be available with two lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs abroad.
The identical batteries are likely to be introduced in India. In Europe, the 49 kWh battery produces 144 horsepower and is only available with a FWD configuration. The 61-kWh battery capacity is available in both FWD and AWD variants. The former produces 174 horsepower, while the latter improves overall power to 184 horsepower.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV AWD has an additional 48 kW electric motor on the back axle, which improves performance and stability on difficult terrain, however it is unknown whether it will be offered in India. It includes Downhill Assist Control and drive modes for trail and snow situations.
