Tata Motors aims to introduce four more electric cars in the next 3 years to support its nine-vehicle-strong range that currently dominates India’s EV market.
According to the report, Tata Motors plans to expand its line-up of EVs within the next three years, increasing the number from five to nine. This strategic move has been announced as Tata has planned to hold its position on the largest market share of electric passenger cars in India, where it has numerous models unveiled.
Upcoming Models
New entrants include the Tata Harrier EV to be launched by March 2025 and the Sierra EV and Safari EV to be released in 2025. It’s also a known fact that the Altroz EV is also in the pipeline and might be on the market between 2025 and 2026. These new models will complement Tata’s existing lineup, which includes five EVs: the Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Curvv EV, and Punch EV.
Harrier EV Specs
One of them is the Harrier EV, which will be presented in its production version at the next Bharat Mobility Show in early 2025. Developed on Tata’s avant-garde Acti.ev architecture, the Harrier shall offer driver-oriented preferences such as FWD and RWD, along with an optional AWD system. It is believed to have around an 80 kWh battery power source, allowing it to have up to 500 km of range in between charges only.
Sierra and Safari EVs
In a series of press releases, Tata Motor will make known its plans regarding the launch of its SUV Sierra EV which is specifically aimed at the lifestyle customer segment and is still undergoing an evolution. The debut is scheduled for late 2025, the Sierra will be offered optionally in two seating – a standard three-door five gear daily use slush and a four gear daily beautifying sedative version lounge. Acti.ev architecture will guide the production of both Sierra and Safari EVs, thus being fit for today’s performance and efficiency benchmarks.
Altroz EV Expectations
I-Pace, the electric concept car unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, has been resurrected for a production version to be released in 2025-26. This electric hatchback will also be said to be shared with the Punch EV, and this new model could be offered with a choice of two battery sizes, 25 kWh and 32 kWh, giving approximate ranges of 315 kilometres and 421 kilometres, respectively.
Market Dynamics
Tata Motors is notwithstanding the slower growth in the overall EV demand amid plans to push forward its portfolio. This way it also combines a strategic goal of obtaining a greater market share with the need to address the dynamics of the target market as more and more Indian consumers demand sustainable transportation options.
9 EVs in Next 2 Years
While eagerly waiting for all these exciting launches by Tata Motors, analysts believe that these new models will help Tata Motors widen its lead in the EV market share in India. As Tata Motors aims to launch nine electric vehicles in the next two years, it is ready to transform India into an electrification kingdom. Hence, the entry of Tata Motors into electric cars should be seen as a continuity of sustainable development in the automobile industry in India.
