Tata Motors introduces its first production-ready Harrier EV at Auto Expo 2025, This is how it differs from the standard ICE vehicle.
Tata Motors loudly returns to Auto Expo 2025 by displaying its complete electric Tata Harrier that’s ready for production. Tata Harrier EV aims to match Auto Expo 2025 by coming with its distinctive design elements, advanced technology and a green power supply. The Harrier EV will push Tata SUV standards higher by using electric zero-emission technology rather than fuel-burning engines. We evaluate every main element of the Tata Harrier EV plus its conventional ICE model.
Distinct Front Design
Like the classic Harrier model, both vehicles follow the brand’s design direction yet the EV features a distinctive front end with its sealed grille because electric cars require this protective element. The front bumper features adapted vertical slats which echo the design used on the Tata Nexon EV. The EV designer elements make the vehicle look more futuristic and smoother.
The diesel Harrier comes with its classic chrome mesh grille and complete air dam setup. Although they appear different the new SUVs use the familiar end-to-end LED light system with their original headlight fittings.
Side Profile Tweaks
Each model shows similar side views centred around the same body lines and design shape. Although these vehicles look similar from the side their differences become noticeable upon close inspection. The Harrier EV’s front doors use “EV” labels while the diesel model displays “HARRIER” branding on its doors. Aerodynamically designed alloy wheels on the electric model enhance their appearance while maximising efficiency gains at the same time.
The diesel variant uses 18-inch black alloy wheels plus owners can choose 19-inch Dark Edition wheels. The sporty wheels for the diesel ICE model look cool but fail to match the aerodynamic upgrades found on the EV model.
Redesigned Rear
Both SUVs share a recent design at the back that uses LED lights to create a contemporary look. The EV wears its Arrier.EV badge on the tailgate for distinct identification. Top and bottom front bumper styling elements translate to a new vertical pattern on its rear bumper.
These small design updates let the Harrier EV keep its family look and reveal its own identity as a distinct electric SUV.
Interior Enhancements
The SUV cabins have the same dashboard pattern and upscale interior design format. They show a clear contrast in design elements and display settings.
Cabin Theme
The Tata Harrier EV 2025 interior edits black and white design program like it just arrived from the future. The diesel Harrier lets buyers choose between variant-specific cabin designs.
The EV now come with a new four-spoke steering wheel and an illuminated Tata logo at its centre to give modern updates to their cabins.
Shared Features
Both versions come loaded with advanced technology and comfort features, including:
- You see all your driving details through a 10.25-inch digital display.
- The vehicles include a touchscreen display at 12.3 inches that enables wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
- A sunroof design lets natural light enter the vehicle cabin.
- You can charge your device wirelessly and keep both passenger zones at different temperatures to make your life easier.
- The battery version of the Harrier EV will probably need more luxury features than its traditional gas-powered sibling unless other models receive these comforts too.
Safety Features
Safety remains Tata Motors’ top interest across all models of the SUV product line. The Harrier EV is expected to offer:
- The vehicle has complete occupant safety protection through seven airbags.
- The SUV will come with a 360-degree camera system to help drivers see better.
- The next-level navigation system brings Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist among its advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
- Both SUVs follow top safety requirements and adjust to current buyer preferences.
Powertrain Differences
Both cars are different in how they produce power.
Electric Powertrain
Two electric motors in the Tata Harrier EV power the vehicle while handling all-wheel drive tasks. The new vehicle will use a strong electricity storage area capable of giving drivers more than 500 km of battery life between charges. The electric SUV delivers 500 Nm maximum torque power while delivering strong performance under all terrain conditions.
Diesel Engine
The standard Harrier runs on a familiar 2-liter diesel engine which creates 170 PS power and 350 Nm torque. It comes with two transmission options: Buyers choose between a six-speed stick shift or a six-speed automatic transmission. The conventional engine design receives acclaim as a dependable power source but its lack of performance in electric engines makes it less environmentally friendly.
Pricing Expectations
The Tata Harrier EV 2025 will come to market in late 2023 or early 2024 with an estimated price tag of ₹25 lakh before taxes. The vehicle stands ahead of other Tata models because it brings innovative tech and environmental benefits to its premium price point.
Compared to the ICE Harrier range which starts at ₹15 lakh, the EV starts from ₹25 lakh (on-road prices) and provides comparable performance features and handling.
Competition Ahead
The Tata Harrier EV must contend with other electric SUV models as India develops its market for this vehicle type. Its primary rivals include:
- The upcoming Mahindra XUV.e9
- The popular BYD Atto 3
Facing Hyundai Creta Electric and the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the Tata Harrier EV will compete with upcoming electric vehicles. North India-based automakers must adapt to the great rise in electric vehicle market-related hype with clean vehicle designs that have to be developed.
In 2025 an exposition of all new models was held. One of the most significant improvements in that exhibition is Tata Motor’s unveiling of their EV through Harrier EV. Intelligent design thoughts and product information combined with the utilisation of high technology features or gadgets are what one may find important among clients or buyers of the new electric sport utility vehicle model featured particularly for their safety and generous power output.
The Harrier EV takes all its ICE appeal features and adds sustainability because it looks and feels the same way as the regular Harrier. Everyone will watch closely to see how Tata Motors’ new electric SUV measures up to other known market competitors during its launch in India.
