New Tata Harrier EV spy shots have revealed key features as they near expectations in the early launch of 2025. What a time for electric SUVs!
The EV segment is becoming stronger than ever in India and taking Tata Motors to the next level because it is quietly launching its much-awaited Harrier EV. Recently spy shots revealed a production-ready test mule that suggests the electric version of the otherwise identical ICE harrier is at the end of the pipeline. It will adopt the styling of its ICE sibling but promises to offer its customers the same thrill with some exciting features and performance enhancements.
The Spy Shot
Recent spy images taken by auto enthusiast Rohit Shinde on the Pune-Bangalore Expressway reveal the heavily camouflaged test mule of the Tata Harrier EV. Even with that, much of the heavily camouflaged parts of the vehicle, it is evident that it retains more or less all of the ICE version’s aesthetic appeal. This one will possibly come with a new front bumper fitted with a closed grille to replace traditional models, but it doesn’t leave that Tata signature identity behind.
Apparently, these spy-shot images suggest a case of a rear electric motor which puts together a reasonable case for Tata Motors to go for an AWD arrangement in the Harrier EV, a huge leap away from the current front-wheel-drive configuration in the ICE version. There is also a provision for dual motors for performance enhancement, which is a pretty exciting prospect for this electric SUV, making it a potentially mainstream electric vehicle in India with such capabilities.
The Interior
The Harrier EV should most likely have the same clean interior layout as its ICE sibling. Some of the key interior features will be a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, and a digital instrument cluster with several comfort features including ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. Also, an advanced set of safety technologies such as Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) will strengthen the built-in confidence of the driver on the road.
Like how interior designs have been infiltrated with some contemporary modern touch controls for climate settings as well as an electronic parking brake with auto-hold functionality, the general cabin experience is conceived to be combined between luxury and advanced technology, tailor-made for tech-savvy consumers as well as traditionalist SUV lovers.
The Performance
However, the powertrain details are still very much hush-hush. As per rumors, this model will be available with a battery that ranges anywhere from 60 kWh to 80 kWh, which can ensure about 500-600 kilometers range per single charge. Such a battery pack would leave the vehicle right at the high end of the space of the growing Indian EV market.
It should most likely give a better ride quality as a family SUV because of the sophisticated rear multi-link independent suspension setup, and even with such AWD capabilities, it may not only improve traction but also make more versatility while driving on all terrains.
Launched Timeline
The expectations that Tata Motors has from its electric vehicle lineup have ambitious plans to make it launch several models by 2025. The Tata Harrier EV is expected to launch in early 2025 during major auto expos such as the Bharat Mobility Show in January. The timing is in line with its strategy to make Tata an established leader in the segment of electric vehicles in India.
While the price is expected to start at around ₹30 lakhs (ex-showroom), the Harrier EV will compete against the traditional leaders of the pack, such as the Mahindra XUV.e8, and will also be a premium offering against such cars as the Hyundai Kona Electric and the MG ZS EV. With ICE and electric variants, Tata gives a clear message about dynamic options offered to consumers while they switch into the world of electric mobility.
Tata Harrier EV is the first in India to embrace a complete paradigm shift in mobility. Tata Motors is combining the appeal of modern aesthetics with high technology and performance to satisfy not just the existing SUV lovers but also potential customers seeking environmentally friendly alternatives. The new-sounding excitement is stopped as we wait for the official launch of what could possibly be one of the largest electric vehicles in India.
This innovation does not just make Tata Motors one more SUV maker in India. Instead, this is opening up an entirely fresh chapter in the history of greening today and tomorrow, so to speak, of Indian automotive history.
