Tata Motors has unveiled an expanded version of the Avinya X concept at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, a major development in its effort to deliver sustainable and premium electric vehicles (EVs). This state-of-the-art concept is an evolution from the 2022 version of Avinya, featuring a more refined design, next-generation engineering, and a pure electric powertrain. Although the Avinya X will still be a concept car, it is now the stepping stone for the next generation of Tata’s EVs, which will go on sale in 2026.
A Bold Exterior Design
The Avinya X concept car equipped with an advanced SUV-coupe body structure looks both futuristic and practical. Key highlights include:
- T-shaped LED Lighting: The front and rear ones are equipped with a bar-like appearance headlight made in the form of a design concept sub-champion by Tata.
- Aerodynamic Enhancements: Effective washroom door handles, active aeromechanics, and air curtains.
- Muscular Silhouette: Rounded panels, swollen wheel arches and sloping roofline all give the car a strong impression.
- Massive Alloy Wheels: The concept rides on 22-inch aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels.
The word design is used in a wide sense because Stella dreamt that the vehicles of the future have to be not only aesthetically pleasant but also aerodynamically economical.
Minimalistic and Sustainable Interiors
- Dual-Tone Theme: When used in combination with dark black furniture, white and golden beige create a profoundly elegant look.
- Eco-Friendly Materials: Employment of sustainable materials demonstrates environmental concern by Tata since most of their products and services are aimed at reducing social impact.
- Lounge-Inspired Layout: Comfort furniture (clothes on flying, airborne, surround-sound speaker, air circ-fully, air-produced and scented diffuser) are styled as methods to decoratively add up comfort.
- Minimalist Dashboard: It is possible to use a floating infotainment screen and slender, slender instrumental panel to minimise the car’s interior.
It is not surprising that the Avinya X decreases the amount of time spent looking at a screen and substitutes that time with voice-activated controls of the system for an easily understood and controlled interface.
Cutting-Edge Features
- Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities for enhanced connectivity.
- Panoramic Sunroof for an open cabin feel.
- ADAS suite (adaptive cruise control, lane keep assistance, and 360-degree camera system).
- Wireless Charging and multi-zone climate control for added convenience.
These functions position the Avinya family as a premium product in the EV segment.
Powertrain and Performance
The Tata Avinya X concept is aimed at long-range applicability, with a very large battery pack to allow a more than 500 km range. The following function is catered to by high-rate fast-charging features, which allow the vehicle to be charged at high power, mitigating user downtime. Further, the EMA architecture is scalable to the degree that it can be modified and redeployed with different combinations of battery packs to address diverse consumer requirements. This design has been painstakingly engineered to optimise for performance in the broadest possible range of driving conditions all the time whilst keeping high-performance standards comfortably satisfied.
Expected Launch Timeline
Although the Tata Motors Avinya X is a concept car, it is being designed to be commercialized in the form of production models in 2026, at a likely price of ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). Housed within a premium electric crossover, it will compete against leading global EV makers in the luxury market.
Showed at the 2025 Auto Expo, the Tata Avinya X is a concept car, not just an automobile, but a vision for “mobility tomorrow” at Tata Motors. As society moves all the way to cleaner and more efficient ways to move, Avinya X is positioned to be a trendsetter in premium electric mobility offerings by providing all of these through differentiated product design, innovative integration of sustainable materials, hi-tech inbuilt features, power endurance, and more. While Tata is branching into the thinking about EV technology, this paper presents a wider perspective of Indian producers and what could be expected from them in EV technology in the world.
