Sony and Honda unveiled the Afeela EV with hyper-advanced technology and features; the initial price amounted to $89,900 in 2026.
Sony has partnered with Honda to develop the world-shaking electric vehicle (EV) called Afeela to achieve a whole new definition for the driving experience. This is building on the foundation of the automotive legacy brought by Honda while integrating technology in the most advanced model from Sony, allowing it to be an eco-friendly vehicle with completely eco-friendly features.
Pricing and Availability
Pre-ordering for Afeela, which will retail from $89,900 for its entry-level variant, the Afeela 1 Origin, will occur. The more high-end model, the Afeela 1 Signature, costs $102,900. In the beginning, these two vehicles faced restrictions affecting California residents in reservations made through a $200 refund of deposit. Reservations for customers from other states will commence in late 2025.
Tech-Forward Design
A tech-savvy vehicle, the Afeela presents a modern, sleek, full-bodied sedan design. This car comes with a strong lineup of 40 sensors including LiDAR units, radars, and ultrasonic sensors that would facilitate driving under semi-autonomous capabilities. It further includes multiple displays across its dashboard and a separate screen for each of the rear seats.
AI Integration
The most exciting feature of the Afeela is its integration of artificial intelligence (AI), in which the car is going to present an AI driver assist function, which is called Vision Transformer (ViT) and it has to assist the user in driving and route planning. The system will use sensor fusion to enhance features concerning parking spot detection and self-parking.
Entertainment Options
The influence of Sony in entertainment through Afeela is quite evident. The car will be equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system featuring 360-degree, space-related audio technology, allowing passengers to enjoy a personalized audio experience tailored to them. Each seat will have its audio system for options in music gaming, and other media needs.
Production Timeline
Legal Afeela production is going to be in a new plant in Ohio, beginning in anticipation of customer deliveries in mid-2026 for the Signature trim, while Origin model deliveries are expected to be done later in 2027. This planned timeline demonstrates that Sony Honda Mobility is taking a careful approach in building its vision.
