We examined the operating costs Suzuki E-Access, Activa E, and TVS iQube to find out which is the most affordable to ride among the three.
The Suzuki e: Access and Honda Activa e: were unveiled at Auto Expo 2025 last month. Furthermore, the TVS iQube has been on sale in India for a few years. With these three main petrol two-wheeler manufacturers now entering the electric market, we wanted to know which scooter is the cheapest to ride and which is the most expensive.
Let us first learn about the competitors
The Suzuki e-Access is powered by a 4.1kW mid-mounted electric motor and can reach a speed of up to 71 kmph. It has a 3.07kWh battery pack and a claimed range of 95 km per charge.
The TVS iQube 3.4kWh additionally includes a 4.4kW mid-mounted electric motor. It has a top speed of 78kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 40kmph in 4.2 seconds.
Comparing per-kilometer running expenses
Now that we’ve calculated the battery and range, we can calculate the operating costs for all three electric scooters. For this comparison, we will assume an average electricity cost of Rs 10 per unit.
Suzuki E-Access
The Suzuki e-Access has a running cost of roughly Rs 0.32 per kilometre and a battery that can be fully charged for about Rs. 30.70.
TVS iQube 3.4 kWh
The TVS iQube 3.4kWh has an operating cost of Rs 0.34 per kilometre. It takes Rs. 34 to fully charge the battery.
Honda Activa e
Honda Activa e has swappable battery packs that cannot be recharged at home. That is why Honda provides subscription options for its swappable charging infrastructure. The base plan for the Activa e starts at Rs 1,999 per month and has a daily mileage limit of 40 km. This indicates that the Activa e: will cost you Rs 66.6 per day, or Rs 1.16 per kilometre in running costs.
Monthly Operating Costs (If rode 40 kilometres a day)
Because the available information only allows us to compute the Activa e’s 40km per day running cost, we will use this figure as a standard benchmark to calculate the monthly operating expenses of all three scooters.
So, if you ride your scooter for an average of 40 kilometres per day, the e-Access will cost you Rs 12.8 every day, totalling Rs 384 per month. On the other hand, the TVS iQube 3.4kWh will cost Rs 13.6 per day and Rs 408 km a month. The Honda Activa e, on the other hand, was the most expensive to ride 40 kilometres in a day at Rs 66.6, with a monthly membership starting at Rs.1,999.
Monthly Operating Costs (If rode 50 kilometres a day)
Using the same cost per kilometre, let’s calculate the monthly expenses for riding 50 km daily:
Suzuki e-Access: ₹16 per day → ₹480 per month
TVS iQube 3.4kWh: ₹17 per day → ₹510 per month
Honda Activa e: Since the base plan allows only 40 km/day, an upgrade is needed. Assuming a higher plan costs proportionally more, the estimated cost would exceed ₹1,999.
Monthly Operating Costs (If rode 15 kilometres a day)
For those who ride 15 km per day, here’s the breakdown:
Suzuki e-Access: ₹4.8 per day → ₹144 per month
TVS iQube 3.4kWh: ₹5.1 per day → ₹153 per month
Honda Activa e: Still requires the base ₹1,999 monthly plan, making it the most expensive option.
This highlights how the Activa e’s subscription model remains costly even for lower daily usage.
What does Searchev think?
The cost comparison reveals a clear distinction in affordability among these electric scooters. The Suzuki e-Access and TVS iQube 3.4kWh are significantly more economical, with monthly running costs of ₹384 and ₹408, respectively, when ridden for 40 km daily.
The Honda Activa e requires a ₹1,999 monthly subscription. While its swappable battery design reduces charging wait times, the high cost may not be worth the convenience for many consumers.
For individuals who value affordability, the Suzuki e-Access and TVS iQube 3.4kWh provide superior value for daily commuting. However, if seamless battery swapping is essential and cost isn’t an issue, the Activa e is still a feasible option.
