Renault Kwid EV, a localized Dacia Spring EV, is set for an imminent India launch, featuring robust design and advanced features.
Kwid EV is undergoing testing and has been recently seen on Indian roads and Renault may launch it sooner than expected. This new electric vehicle will squarely align itself with the Tata Punch EV, Citroen eC3, and MG Comet EV. Renault has set a target of 2024 for India plans, Kwid EV is the one existing as the Dacia Spring EV sold in the global market and two new SUVs are also being planned.
Interior and Safety Features
On the inside, the Renault Kwid EV will have a 10-inch touch screen media connect system and a 7-inch digital meter cluster. The other interior features include a simple looking instrument cluster, a thick three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, circular acrylic toggles that house the AC vents and a short gear stick.
Because the Kwid EV will be competing with other entry-level EVs available in India, it will have to provide prospective buyers with a number of features. The features that are available as standard on the Dacia Spring EV are the electrically adjustable door mirrors, the vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, a USB charging socket, foldable rear seats, as well as multiple handy storage compartments. These features are expected of the Kwid EV as well.
Performance Specifications
Its international offering, the Dacia Spring EV, comes in two models. The top-of-the-range model will come with a 268 kWh battery pack putting out 65 hp and 113 Nm of torque and is good for 225 km travel. They offer a 7kW standard AC charger and a 30 kW DC rapid charger; you can get from 20% to 80% in about 40 min using the 150-kW fast charger at public stations.
Launch and Market Position
Considering the high demand for introductory level electric vehicles in India, Renault intends to release the Kwid EV model by 2025. It is proposed that localization initiatives will assist in attaining an ideal price level. The Dacia Spring EV is one of the cheapest electric vehicles within the Europe market and for the Kwid EV to be priced at around Rs 11 lakh in India it could be very competitive. Renault ensured a broader portfolio in India, along with growing demand for electric automobiles impacted by the launch of Renault Kwid EV.
