Raptee. HV T30, India’s first electric bike with CCS2 fast-charging support, has commenced deliveries. More than 8,000 bookings have been received to date.
Raptee.HV, a Chennai-based electric two-wheeler start-up, has achieved a significant milestone in its journey by getting certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for its T30 electric motorcycle. This means that the T30 is also the first Indian electric bike to be compliant with the CCS2 (used in electric cars) DC fast-charging standard. As a result of now having this certification, the T30 can charge at over 22,000 of the public DC fast-charging stations available across India, greatly improving convenience potentially for users who depend on fast-charging infrastructure.
Exciting Features
The Raptee T30 introduces a series of top-of-the-line features that might just be a game-changer for electric two-wheelers in India. The T30 allows for CCS2 fast charging that can hit 20% to 80% in 36 minutes, about half the time of many other electric bikes. This design distinction is what differentiates the T30 from its peers, giving the user a more electric car-like experience and more usability in everyday life.
Power and Performance
Raptee has developed the T30 to offer performance similar to conventional petrol bikes. Having an electric motor rated at 22kW and offering 70 Nm of peak torque, this e-phat boy is said to be nearly as competitive as a 300cc petrol bike. It also has a top speed of 135 km/h and a 0-60 km/h time of 3.5 seconds. This is nothing but a clear nature that the T30 is fastest and fun to ride, apart from being energy efficient.
Range and Battery
The T30 employs a 5.4kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 200km on a full charge of the Indian Driving Cycle as a measure. That impressive range is great for both city commutes and highway trips. With the perfect range for the rider to complete long-distance trips without worry, the T30 is a great fit for those looking to make the switch to electric bikes without needing to recharge frequently.
Charging Time
The T30 is equipped with fast charging, one of its standout features. With the CCS2 DC fast charger, the bike charges from 20% to 80% in 36 minutes. For users of standard charging, the battery can fully charge within roughly an hour. Alongside the external charger, the T30 also features an onboard charger, providing versatility in case users want to charge their bike from home or away.
Impressive Bookings
Launched in October 2024, Raptee has received upwards of 8,000 bookings for the T30. Earlier scheduled for delivery starting January 2025, the company has now updated the timeline and confirmed that it will start delivering bikes between April and June 2025. Deliveries will start in Chennai and Bengaluru, followed by expansion to other cities in India in future phases. With nearly half of all T30 bookings placed by customers not receiving EVs from Ford on requested dates, demand for the rugged workhorse is strong and is sure to become a welcome addition to the burgeoning battery-powder category.
Competitive Pricing
Raptee T30 is also one of the lowest-priced high-performance electric bikes at Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom). Given that, the pricing is competitive enough to have the T30 positioned as one of the better value-for-money electric two-wheelers in the country. The company also provides an eight-year/80,000km warranty for the battery and a three-year/30,000km warranty for the vehicle besides the pricing.
Future Plans
Raptee’s ambitions don’t end with the T30. The company has an annual production facility at its Manapakkam, Chennai facility for over 100,000 units target production, with an additional 40 acres of land acquired in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu for future expansion. Moreover, the startup has raised funds and is looking to raise an additional USD 19 million (Rs 165 crore) to support its growth. Raptee sounds all geared up to grow and have a golden spot in the EV two-wheeler market.
Expansion Plans
Raptee.HV not only are they focused on the present, but they’re also gearing up for the future with significant expansion plans. The firm has acquired 40 acres of land in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, to expand its manufacturing operations. Raptee currently has a production capacity of 100,000 units per annum at its facility in Chennai and is working on scaling further to cater to the rising demand for its electric bikes. The firm is also soundly in talks for bringing on new funding to drive these ambitious growth plans, which highlights the market as a leader and competitive force within India’s electric two-wheeler sector.
Growing Impact
When it comes to laying a strategic plan in the Indian rader two-wheeler makeup category, it can disrupt the makeshift with its best-in-line CCS2 fast-charging, pioneering high-voltage powertrain, and competitively termed Raptee T30. We believe that the bike’s blend of performance, innovation and value for money marks it out as a game changer for Electric Vehicle newbies and die-hards alike. Raptee also has potential for growth as deliveries are set to commence in 2025. T30 may prove to be a tipping point for electric two-wheelers in India.
With deliveries in Chennai and Bengaluru expected to commence in 2025, the success of the T30 will largely depend on how well Raptee manages to scale its production and dealership network. Whether or not it succeeds long-term will come down to how well it catches the increasing demand for electric motorcycles. With strong initial bookings, a competitive product and an aggressive growth plan, Raptee is, however, in a strong position to develop a solid electric two-wheeler business. The T30 is viable along an unseen route to India.
