Ola launches three new e-bikes—Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro—with deliveries starting in 2025, featuring in-house battery technology.
At its highly anticipated Sankalp 2024 event, Ola announced the launch of three new e-bikes, known as the Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro. These models have come at the right time to enhance Ola’s quest to spearhead the change to electric mobility across the nation. According to the laid down strategy, Ola intends to start delivering these e-bikes by 2025 with Roadster X being the first. In the same year, the company envisaged the integration of battery technology manufactured within the firm.
Ola’s In-House Battery Initiative
From 2025, all the car models operated by Ola will be fitted with batteries produced by the in-house manufacturing unit called Bharat 4680. This idea is part of a broader plan to minimize reliance on third-party providers and improve the EVs that are produced by the company. The new battery cells that are under trial production at Ola’s gigafactory have a very low cost structure, five times more energy density than the current cells, can support fast charging and have a life of over 1000 charge cycles.
