Ola Electric has revealed the launch date for its next Ola S1 Gen 3 platform. The new platform will launch in India on January 31, 2025. The news was made through the brand’s official social media outlets. The Gen 3 platform will provide a significant upgrade over the Gen 2 platform.
The new generation of Ola S1 Gen 3 has yet to be revealed. However, the firm is expected to modify the EV in order to expand the amount of features while also making it more efficient. This will most likely be done by changing the machine’s electronics and basics, such as the battery structure and motor. The Generation 3 platform update will include three primary components: a new battery, motor, and control unit. Starting with the battery, the new one will be an integral part of the scooter’s frame.
The manufacturer has just released a teaser photograph, which hints at a silhouette very similar to earlier versions. It is also likely to include design aspects that are quite similar to previous generations, with minor variations. The new version is likely to be based on an aluminium frame, which could result in changes to the mechanics.
The brand claims that this will help to improve the scooter’s overall shock resistance. The cells utilized are another notable feature of this battery pack. Ola Electric has stated that the battery pack will be made with indigenously manufactured Bharat Cells. These made-in-India cells are far more energy dense than the 2170 cells already in use.
In addition, the motor will be new. Ola will use magnetized electrical coils rather than normal permanent magnets. This increases the motor’s thermal efficiency, which improves the scooter’s overall performance.
Finally, consider the electronic control modules. The Gen 3 scooters will include a motor control unit (MCU) that is built into the motor. Ola has also made some fascinating enhancements, such as combining various sections of the electric control units, MCU, and battery management system into a single chip.
The electric scooter, like previous versions, will most likely include a broad number of functions. This might be in the form of a TFT screen that runs updated software. The brand is also expected to include an electric motor that generates more power and torque.
All of these adjustments are intended to increase the EV’s consumer base while also addressing a broader range of consumers. This appears to be important considering the brand’s rising market competition from other brands.
The most affordable model will be the S1 X 2kWh, priced at Rs. 79,999, while the most costly will be the S1 Pro, priced at Rs. 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The 4kWh and 3kWh variants will cost Rs. 1.5 lakh and Rs. 1.29 lakh, respectively.
