Ola’s new ‘Flat Cable’ technology
Talking on how the Gen One Ola S1 scooter wiring weights 4 kg, Aggarwal demonstrated Ola’s new flat cable, which reduces the overall weight to 800 grams.
“The older system, which is used by most other automakers, has custom connectors imported from China or Taiwan,” he said. Ola’s new flat cable, on the other hand, uses fully standardized connectors manufactured in India. It will be standard on all Ola motorcycles from now on.
“Brake-by-Wire” technology from Ola
The new Roadster X also has Ola’s patented ‘Brake by Wire’ technology. This balances brake pad use and motor resistance using a sensor on the brake lever.
Aggarwal stated during the previous scooter launch that this leads to a 15% increase in range and a doubled brake pad life. The extended range is due to the electric motor regenerating electricity while braking.
The Roadster motorcycle series was first released in August 2024, although in pre-production variants. The Roadster X, however, was unveiled today, and production models are now complete.
