While the Honda QC 1 was designed exclusively for India, the Honda Activa e was created for India and other emerging markets. Both electric two-wheelers are expected to launch in Spring 2025.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has finally entered the electric two-wheeler industry, unveiling two new electric scooters – the Activa E and the QC1. The Honda QC 1 electric scooter was built exclusively for India, whereas the Activa electric was intended for India as well as other growing markets. Both electric vehicles are planned to be on sale in phases by the spring of 2025, with bookings beginning on January 1, 2025. The costs of both items will be published in January 2025.
The Honda e-scooters are the Japanese company’s first electric vehicle product in India. The new electric scooter is being manufactured at a factory in Karnataka, near Bengaluru. The plant will meet both domestic and international demand. While Honda sells the CUV:e in Europe, which was unveiled at EICMA 2024, the new electric scooters for India are quite different.
Activa E and QC 1 Specs
The Honda Activa E includes two swappable batteries for added charging convenience. Honda will have charging stations spread throughout markets to allow for easy swaps. In terms of styling, both versions are fairly similar, although with small changes. While the Honda Activa E has LED combination lights and indicators for the front and rear, the QC 1 lacks the high-mounted LED DRL, wraparound taillight, and some of the Activa E’s chrome. Furthermore, unlike the Activa E, the QC 1 has drum brakes in the front.
Honda Activa E & QC 1: Features and range
Furthermore, the Honda Activa Electric includes a TFT digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. In addition to navigation, the model includes music controls, and call and SMS alerts. To keep expenses down, the QC 1 has a simpler LCD unit. Other features include three riding modes: Standard, Sport, and ECON, with the latter meant to maximize range and the Sport aiming at more lively performance.
The new Honda electric scooter is powered by a wheel-side motor with a maximum output of 8 hp and 2.4 bhp respectively. The Honda Activa E offers a range of 102 km on a single charge, while the QC 1 claims a range of 80 km.
Honda Activa E and QC 1: Rivals
The Honda electric scooter enters a competitive market that includes the TVS iQube, Visa V1, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro, Simple One, Ampere Nexus, and others. The electric scooter will be sold in Honda stores across India starting in 2025.
