What makes Gen 3 Special?
1. Mid-Mounted Motor:
The Ola S1 line now features a new mid-mounted motor with an integrated MCU (Motor Control Unit) that is chain-driven. Ola Electric claims the motor is five times more reliable than traditional motors. This design enhances energy efficiency by approximately 4% and improves reliability.
2. New Battery Technology:
The Ola S1 Pro Plus scooter from the S1 line features a 5.3kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 320 kilometres. The 5.3kWh battery pack contains Ola’s ‘4680 Bharat cell, which is larger than a regular cell but 10% more energy-dense. The BMS (Battery Management System) has been built into the battery itself.
3. Brake-by-wire Technology:
The Ola S1 line now has brake-by-wire technology, which eliminates the need for a physical brake cable in scooters. The brake-by-wire technology captures the rider’s input via a sensor and identifies the braking pattern while determining whether to brake effectively. It also regulates motor behaviour during braking. The Ola S1 range now includes three scooters with single-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), while the S1 Pro Plus comes with dual-channel ABS as standard.
4. MoveOS 5:
The Ola Gen 3 electric scooter series will receive the latest MoveOS 5, Ola’s in-house operating system. The Move OS 5 will include a DIY mode that allows you to tweak power, speed, regen, and throttle sensitivity. It gets a new display theme, ‘Bharat Mood’. SOS notifications, Smart-Park, Road-Trip Mode, and a slew of other features are also available on the MoveOS 5.
