The MG Windsor EV, the company’s most recent debut into the country’s electric vehicle market, has emerged successful. This revolutionary electric vehicle debuted in September 2024. With 3,116 unit sales in October 2024, it became the country’s best-selling electric vehicle. The MG Windsor has replaced the Tata Nexon EV as the best-selling electric vehicle in the country.
MG Windsor EV Sales October 2024 MG Motor India reported a 37.92% YoY increase to 7,045 units. In its first month, the new Windsor sold 3,116 units. In addition to the Comet EV, MG Motor sells the Astor, Hector, Gloster, and ZS EV in the country. This was MG Motor India’s highest monthly sales figure.
What is it that has made the new MG Windsor such a success in its class?
It has displaced the Tata Nexon EV, India’s best-selling electric vehicle until now. The Windsor EV even passed the Comet and ZS from its own stable. The Windsor EV received a remarkable reaction from the moment its booking windows opened on October 3, 2024. Within 24 hours, the Windsor had received 15,176 bookings, making it the first passenger electric vehicle to reach this milestone in India.
MG Windsor EV Deliveries
MG Windsor is available in three versions: Excite, Essence, and Exclusive. Its BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) pricing ranges from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh, at a rate of Rs 3.5 per kilometre. The Windsor EV’s starting price is Rs 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom). MG Motor has been making record deliveries, with over 100 Windsor EVs delivered in a single day to select dealerships.
The MG Windsor is offered in four exterior colours: starburst black, pearl white, clay beige, and turquoise green. It is based on the Wuling Cloud EV and shares many of its features. These include all LED lights, LED DRLs, a compact connecting light bar, and a connected light bar in the back. It has 18-inch alloy wheels and a big front bumper.
Highlights and Safety Features of MG Windsor EV
The cabins of the new MG Windsor EV also offer class-leading features. These include a big 15.6-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. Interior highlights include a big glass roof, 256 multi-light LED ambient lighting, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, aero-lounge rear seats with 135-degree recline, and adjustable front seats.
What makes MG Windsor even more appealing to customers in the country is its extensive safety features. It has a 360-degree camera, surround-view camera, 6 airbags, electronic parking brake, auto hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TMPS), and electronic stability control.
Specification of the MG Windsor EV
The MG Windsor EV features an IP67-rated 38 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack. This provides a range of 332 kilometres and is linked to a permanent magnet synchronous motor with 134 horsepower and 220 nm of torque. Charging via a DC charger can take up to 55 minutes. The MG Windsor competes in its segment with the Tata Nexon EV, the Curvv EV, and the Mahindra XUV400.
