The JSW MG motor is expected to release its first Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) appropriately christened as the Windsor EV in the Indian market on the 11th of September ’24. Aiming at a market price of around Rs 20 lakhs (Ex-showroom), the Windsor EV will rival the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and Tata Nexon EV. While MG has not released the details, insiders believe Windsor EV will use the same battery & platform as Wuling Cloud EV and will borrow a few aesthetics from the car as well.
Exterior and Interior Design
The Windsor EV will also be almost similar to the Wuling Cloud, and it will have connected LED DRLs and LED headlights. However, to stand out and be unique the car will incorporate the logo ‘MG’ on the front bumper and the name ‘Morris Garages’ written below the LED DRL strip. The car is equipped with an 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheel while the linked LED taillight arrangement is available at the rear. In the interior, the company plans to incorporate a panoramic glass roof, a 15.6 inches center touch screen display, a rear seat that can recline to 135 degrees, a three passenger rear bench with 3 point seat belts and adjustable headrests.
Safety Features
On the safety aspect, the Windsor EV should have aspects like an electronic parking system, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an advanced driver assist system (ADAS), Intelligent High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control are some of the possible functions of ADAS.
Powertrain and Range
The Windsor EV is likely to come with two battery options, they include a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh variant. The smaller battery allows a driving range of 360 km with the larger battery providing a 460 km range. As for the 50.6kWh variant, it is expected that this variant will be offered to the Indian market.
