According to sources, MG is planning to offer a new Windsor EV model with a larger 50 kWh battery pack soon.
JSW MG Motor India’s recently released Windsor EV has become well-liked across very fast. It has surpassed the Tata Nexon EV and the Punch EV to become India’s best-selling electric car. According to reports, MG plans to release a new Windsor EV model soon that has a bigger 50 kWh battery pack. With the launch scheduled for April of this year, this update is anticipated to boost sales even more.
MG Windsor EV will get a bigger battery for more range.
According to reports, MG is preparing to unveil a new Windsor EV with a larger 50.3 kWh battery pack, making it even more competitive in the market. Interestingly, this is the same battery pack used in the MG ZS EV, the brand’s compact electric SUV. When available as an optional battery pack for the Windsor EV, it is intended to deliver a range of 461 kilometers on a single full charge.
It is currently unknown whether the Windsor EV’s 50.3 kWh battery pack type will receive the same electric motor with current power. The ZS EV with the larger battery pack is powered by an electric motor that produces 176 hp and 280 Nm of torque.
A 38 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery is the sole battery pack option currently available for the MG Windsor EV. Its stated range is 331 kilometers on a single charge. The front wheels are powered by an electric motor with 136 hp and 200 Nm.
The current 38 kWh battery pack can be charged from 0% to 80% in 55 minutes using a 50 kW DC charger. Additionally, using an AC charger to charge from 0% to 100% takes 6.5 to 7.4 hours. However, it only takes 46 minutes to charge the 50.3 kWh battery pack from 0% to 80%. Using an AC charger, a full charge will take about 16 hours.
Pricing for the MG Windsor EV 50.3 kWh Battery Pack
Currently, the MG Windsor EV with the 38 kWh battery pack costs between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 15.99 lakh. The 50.3 kWh battery pack is expected to cost Rs 1-1.5 lakh more than the current price. It is unclear whether the larger battery pack will be offered with all three Windsor EV models.
MG Windsor EV Sales
The Windsor EV has helped MG become a major player in the EV market. MG now enjoys a 21% market share in India. In the EV market, Tata Motors’ market share has significantly decreased, falling from 73% to 62%. Meanwhile, MG has revealed impressive sales results for the Windsor EV. Since production began at its Halol, Gujarat plant, MG has made 15,000 Windsor EVs.
The Windsor EV has sold over 10,000 units in just three months of its launch. MG sold 3,277 EVs last month alone, making up 49% of the brand’s overall sales. Sales are anticipated to increase even further with the release of a larger battery pack.
