Mercedes-Benz makes its launch today in India with EQS 450 and G 580 that offer new sophisticated technology, luxury, and electric performance.
Today, on January 9, 2025, the company made a mark through the launch of EQS 450 5-seater and G 580, as they say, into the Indian automotive market. The launch of these two models, packed with very complicated technology, is a significant moment in the course of going from a dedicated line toward expansion upwards in its premium Indian models, which cater to the increased demand for luxury electric vehicles in the market.
Electric Luxury Sedan
The EQS 450 is an entirely new breed of luxury car, featuring pure electric automotive muscle with cutting-edge performance and technology. This is the first model of the EQS series, expected at around ₹1.40 crore (ex-showroom) to bring in environmentalists who wish to experience luxury yet cannot fasten under the weight of guilt to drive so luxuriously.
Striking Performance
Powering the EQS 450 is a massive battery pack of 122 kWh, like its larger brother, the EQS 580. Equipped with this potent battery set-up, it beats out 536.5 bhp and a huge 858 Nm of torque, all of which will be put down by a dual motor configuration. It also supports 200 kW DC fast charging, which can charge between 10% and 80% in just 31 minutes, an ideal solution for both home and travel.
Striking Designs
The EQS 450 shows off its clear similarities with the EQS 580 in terms of styling, a modern and sleek way to do things. It also shares elements such as a closed-off grille, twin LED headlights, a full-width LED light strip, and taillights that wrap around the edge. Buyers can expect fresh new sports-designed 21-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, luxury is worth the five speakers of the Burmester audio system, an amazing 56-inch Hyperscreen, dual entertainment screens for rear seat passengers, and extensive advanced safety features with nine airbags.
The Legendary G-Class SUV
To pair up with the EQS 450, Mercedes-Benz will also be launching the G 580, the electric version of its famed G-Class SUV. The G 580 comes rugged with the charm of its ancestor and electric technology, and it is expected to cost well above ₹3 crore (ex-showroom) and will be brought in entirely as a completely built unit (CBU).
Off-Road Capabilities
The G 580, with its four-motor all-wheel-drive, develops a power output of 579 bhp and an astonishing torque output of 1,164 Nm. With such power at its disposal, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds, with a maximum speed of 180 km/h. Its battery, rated at 116 kWh, provides it a driving range of close to 473 km on a single charge, aside from offering power rapid charging capability of up to 200 kW for speedy replenishment.
Innovative Features
The G 580 has several off-road innovative features. This new addition includes the feature G-turn that allows the car to perform a girth of 360 degrees while the vehicle remains still; ideal for tight spaces. Other off-road features, such as enhanced handling while featuring G-steering, make slow-speed crawling with G-Crawl suitable for a multitude of terrains.
Luxury Interior
The inside of the G 580 has two 12.3-inch screens that act as both the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. The electric SUV boasts much of the interior styling seen traditionally within G-Class models with EQ-specific graphics that lend a modern touch. The whole vehicle shines with premium materials and finishes that summarise the Mercedes-Benz quality.
The launch of Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 and G 580 today will be a great beginning into yet another chapter of the brand in India, with promising innovations within the luxury automotive sector. Performance, luxury, and high-end technologies in these cars are going to set fresh benchmarks for their respective segments. Picnic spots are not just a place for the launch of these overhead models by Mercedes-Benz in India but also for driving fun along with sustainable mobility solutions. The launch not only proves Mercedes-Benz’s move toward electric mobility but also adds an honour concerning luxury automobile innovations made in India.
