Maruti Suzuki has announced that it plans to launch at least four electric vehicles in India between FY2025 and FY2030.
Maruti Suzuki is a late entrant into the Indian electric car industry, with their first EV, the e Vitara, still to be released. However, the automaker intends to lead the Indian electric passenger vehicle industry, with at least four electric vehicles set to be released in the nation by FY 2030. Maruti Suzuki revealed that it will launch four electric vehicles while announcing its product strategy and mid-term management plan for FY2025-FY2030.
What Other Electric Vehicles Does Maruti Suzuki Offer?
Maruti Suzuki intends to launch its first electric car, the e Vitara, in India soon. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara was showcased at the Auto Expo 2025. Beyond that, the automaker plans to launch three more electric vehicles in the country by 2030. Maruti Suzuki has already announced that it will develop the Fronx EV, a 100% electric version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover based on the Baleno luxury hatchback.
In addition, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga could be the next model in the Indian passenger car market to get an all-electric edition. Given that the affordable MPV sector remains an untouched market with volume potential in fleet operations, the manufacturer may introduce an Ertiga EV. The automaker, however, has yet to provide any details about its electric vehicle product strategy.
Maruti Suzuki Aims To Regain Lost Footprint
Maruti Suzuki aims to regain its lost market share in the Indian passenger vehicle market. With increasing competition from rival companies, the carmaker’s market share dropped below 50 per cent. Now, it aims to reclaim that by FY2030. New product launches, including the four electric cars, will play a key role in this strategy.
By FY2030, Maruti Suzuki expects traditional internal combustion engine-powered models to account for around 60% of total sales, with battery electric vehicles accounting for 15% and hybrids accounting for 25%.
