Lamborghini’s first electric vehicle, “ Lanzador,“ will be inspired by the Lanzador EV concept. Know more about it!
Lamborghini plans to launch its first electric vehicle, “ Lanzador “, by 2030. It will be the most powerful model offered by the Italian sports car maker. Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen AG, revealed that Lamborghini’s future electric sports car will ride on a specially built platform for electric vehicles.
According to Blume, the Lamborghini EV will ride on a Porsche-designed chassis that will also support electric vehicles from Volkswagen’s luxury and performance brands, including Audi and Bentley. “It’s a very specific setup for Lamborghini,” Blume said. “I promise that it will be a typical Lamborghini, something very emotional,” Blume added.
Volkswagen AG’s new EV-specific design will support up to 980-volt systems. This hints at the powertrain of the upcoming Lamborghini EV. The Italian automaker’s electric sports car is expected to be inspired by the Lanzador concept, which was first revealed to the public in mid-2023.
The Lamborghini Lanzador concept EV had a higher suspension and two doors, both of which are expected to appear in the Lamborghini EV production model. The Lamborghini Lanzador EV concept was shown with a 1,322 bhp peak power generating powertrain. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has already confirmed that the future electric vehicle will generate at least that much power, if not more.
Expect the production model to be more powerful, with roughly 2,000 horsepower. It will be equipped with two electric motors, each mounted on one axle and supplying power to all four wheels, transforming the EV into an all-wheel drive vehicle. Lamborghini had planned to launch the electrified vehicle in 2028. However, the company eventually put the plans back a year, to 2029. The carmaker expects the electric vehicle to be a big sales driver for the brand once it goes on sale.
