Kia India to launch an affordable EV next year aiming for 4 lakh annual sales by 2030 with tech-driven growth.
Kia India is planning to introduce its first mainstream EV car in the fiscal next year and this is still part of the company’s growth strategies. The automotive company wants to achieve a sales target of 400,000 units by 2030 to complement its operation in the South Korea market which is the second biggest market globally.
Current EV Lineup and New Launches
At present, Kia India has only the EV6 that retails at ₹60.96 lakh. On Thursday, Hyundai unveiled the EV9 electric SUV and its starting price is ₹1.3 crore, though both are imported in India as CBUs. Next year’s mass market EV will complement Kia’s fleet and address the needs of more customers, as said by the Managing Director and CEO Gwanggu Lee.
Growth Strategy and Sales Targets
The idea of Kia Motors is rather clear – to fortify its key role in the SUV market, while excluding micro-SUVs from consideration. It wants to achieve sales of 4 lakh units per year in the country by 2030. National head sales and marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said that Kia aims to end the current year with 2.5 lakh production and produce 3 lakh units in 2024.
Technology and Kia’s Transformation
Kia’s transformation strategy for 2.0 focuses on a radical perspective of automotive design and innovation. Lee also argued that the company’s strategic position on technology, design and luxury would alter customer perception in India where the firm operated in the mass market area.
Festive Sales Outlook
The executive went on the record saying that despite a recent manufacturing slowdown, there will be impressive sales during the festival period. He hopes that the increased demand during this period will enable Kia to realise its year-end targets.
