Kia plans a major product upgrade of its bestselling Carens MPV through a mid-2025 introduction of the redesigned version and a battery-powered EV variant. Kia aims to strengthen its position in the MPV market segment and also bring electric vehicles to Indian customers by releasing these products together. The forthcoming Kia Carens facelift together with the new Carens EV model will become available to customers during mid-2025.
Design Updates
Kia plans to launch Caren’s renewal with modern design cues that take their inspiration from the pending Kia EV6 model. The latest spy photos reveal the Carens facelift and Carens EV will have triangular LED headlights that connect to LED daytime running lights (DRLs) as well as new front and back bumper designs. Both vehicles will introduce new taillights extending across the entire width of the vehicle alongside modernised alloy wheels with probable aerodynamic wheel designs meant to enhance efficiency on the EV model.
Interior Enhancements
The facelifted Carens will feature a whole new dashboard layout that follows modern design principles and provides customers with different interior upholstery choices. The ICE-powered Carens and Carens EV differ fundamentally inside because the electric version will incorporate environmentally friendly materials in its construction. The automaker intends for both vehicles to provide passengers with a larger 12.3-inch dual-screen setup, dual-zone climate control wireless phone charging capabilities, and panoramic sunroof enhancements for comfort and convenience.
Safety Features
Safety maintains its priority position at Kia because both versions will include an extensive collection of protective features. All versions will come standard with six airbags alongside electronic stability control 360-degree camera system features and front and rear parking sensors. The new Kia Carens will feature Level 2 capabilities of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) through adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning technology in both versions.
Powertrain Options
The upcoming Kia Carens facelift will keep all powering systems that exist in the current model lineup. This includes:
- 1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine
- Power: 115 PS
- Torque: 144 Nm
- Transmission: 6-speed Manual (MT)
- 1.5-litre Turbo-Petrol Engine
- Power: 160 PS
- Torque: 253 Nm
The available transmission systems in the Kia Carens consist of the 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) alongside the 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).
- 1.5-litre Diesel Engine
- Power: 116 PS
- Torque: 250 Nm
The Kia Carens comes with a 6-speed Manual (MT) transmission combined with a 6-speed Automatic Transmission (AT). The powertrain specifications of the Carens EV remain under development despite other details available in the market. Battery pack alternatives will be available to customers as the manufacturer predicts a single-charge driving range between 400-500 kilometres.
Pricing Expectations
On the market today the Kia Carens costs from ₹10.60 lakh up to ₹19.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Kia Carens will begin below ₹11.50 lakh and these prices will be exceeded by the Carens EV model. The updates released by Kia attempt to maintain their position against Maruti Ertiga and XL6 MPV competitors while offering an electric model version analogous to the Toyota Innova Hycross.
Kia Carens facelift alongside its all-new Carens EV edition provides the company with exciting opportunities in the Indian market. These new model versions present a modernistic design that combines advanced features alongside electric mobility solutions designed to draw clients who need family-oriented vehicles that suit present-day preferences.
The upcoming two years hold significant promise for Kia because people are wondering how the company’s changes will impact its position among conventional vehicle owners along with electric vehicle enthusiasts. The Carens EV’s introduction would have a substantial impact on Kia’s market development in India because of increasing environmental transportation concerns.
