Hyundai will launch the Creta EV aimed at adding another electric SUV into its robust market presence in India with fun designs and features.
This is Hyundai Motor India, preparing for an exciting event that could change the EV reality in the country. The much-awaited Creta EV is going to be launched on January 17, 2025, at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025, New Delhi. The new electric model is conceived as the electric counterpart of one of the best-selling midsize SUVs in India. It aims to increase and straddle Hyundai’s position in the growing segment of electric vehicles in the country. Since Creta already enjoys a spot in the hearts of Indian consumers, this category is expected to lift overall sales significantly and create a sound hold in the market for Hyundai.
The Design
Both the exterior and interior designs of the Creta EV will reflect closely with that of the facelifted Creta launched earlier this year. However, it will possess special elements that will put its electric identity into stark relief. The most noticeable change will be represented in the closed grille, a typical design feature in electric vehicles, improving the vehicle’s aerodynamics. Also, the Creta EV will have brand-new front and rear bumpers that align with its modern looks while increasing air efficiency.
The Competition
The Creta EV is now in the market, and its entry will place it alongside some of the major competitors in the electric SUV segment. These would include the newly launched Mahindra BE 6e, with its bold design and features; the Tata Curvy EV; and the MG ZS EV. It would not just have competition from them, though, because Maruti’s next born-EV SUV is also strongly poised to enter this very competitive market in the form of the e Vitara, which shall be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Show.
Interior Features
Creative EV boasts of comfort and is highly updated from the inside. All that remains is a feature such as a three-spoke steering wheel lifted from the new generation Hyundai Kona EV and then providing just as much aesthetic feel as functionality, better grip, and reach to control.
The Technological Features
Compared to its current variants, the Creta EV will carry on with a twin-screen setup meant for both the infotainment section and the instrument cluster display. This dual-display setup will allow the drivers to access the navigation, media controls, and vehicle information at once. The infotainment is probably going to run improvements in its abilities as well as in the user interface functionality.
The Performance
Beneath its skin, the Creta EV would boast a 45kWh battery pack, one that would in pretty much equal measure be affording its performance and efficiency. Although this battery capacity rates a little lower than the likes of the MG ZS EV (50.3kWh) and the new eVX coming from Maruti (49-61kWh), it fits squarely within STI entry-level models like Tata’s Curvv EV.
Production Plans
Hyundai estimates that it would roll out about 24,000 units of the Creta EV annually. Given the expected pricing strategy, this will ensure that the model finds itself in the sights of many buyers eager to embrace an electric SUV.
Sales Impact
The car company Hyundai has suffered what might be considered a blow in recent months as far as sales for electric vehicles are concerned. With the Hyundai Creta EV launch, it would create further hype. The company was able to record sales of only 20 units for the Ioniq 5 from November 2024, awfully below the normal number. This particular model has been intended to revive their business in EVs.
The Creta EV could be the game changer for car manufacturers, considering that it will come bumper to bumper with the growing market need for mid-size SUVs in India. The combination of an ICE version with an electric version would make it a tough contender to wrest the title of Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling model in India within FY2025.
