Hyundai Motor India revealed the Hyundai Ioniq 9 three-row electric MPV at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The Ioniq 9 will be the flagship vehicle in Hyundai’s dedicated EV lineup, which also includes the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. It is scheduled to launch in Korea and the United States in the first half of 2025, with more markets following by the end of the year. There are no specifics about the India launch yet.
Design Features
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 follows Hyundai’s new design language, with a sleek, aerodynamic body, a wide closed-off grille, and sharp LED headlamps. It features a coupe-like shape with SUV proportions and vertically stacked LED pixel taillights.
Ioniq 9 measures:

The wheelbase measures 3,130mm. It has a lower drag coefficient (0.259) than the Mercedes EQS SUV. The Ioniq 9 comes with basic 19-inch wheels, with choices for 20-inch and 21-inch wheels. Furthermore, the Ioniq 9 has 16 exterior colour options and seven interior colour options.
Top Highlights
Inside, the Ioniq 9 has six and seven-seat configurations, with plenty of head and legroom in the second and third rows. The second-row chairs can swivel to face the third row when stationary, and both rows have massaging functions. The adjustable Universal Island 2.0 console holds 5.6 litres in the upper tray and 12.6 litres in the lower tray. With the third-row seats folding, the boot can hold up to 1,323 litres of storage. The front boot holds 88 litres in the rear-wheel drive version and 52 litres in the all-wheel drive type.
Key features include dual 12-inch panoramic curved displays, multi-zone climate control, 100W USB-C connections in all rows, an 8-speaker sound system, and an optional 14-speaker Bose system. The Ioniq 9 also has ten airbags and advanced safety technologies such as automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and smart cruise control.
The Specifications
Globally, the Ioniq 9 is offered in Long-Range and Performance configurations. The Long-Range RWD model produces 218hp and 350Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 9.4 seconds. The AWD variant includes a front motor, decreasing the 0-100kph time to 6.7 seconds. The Performance trim, which has motors on both axles, produces 218 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 5.2 seconds, with a top speed of 200 kph.
The Ioniq 9 is powered by a 110.3kWh battery, and the Long-Range RWD variant has a WLTP range of up to 620 kilometres on a single charge. The Ioniq 9 can charge from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes with a 350kW charger. It also has dynamic torque vectoring, lateral wind stability control, and Terrain Traction Control with Auto Terrain Mode, which employs AI to adapt to changing road conditions. The vehicle can tow up to 2,500 kg and features a trailer mode for smooth torque distribution.
