The FlixBus India pilot project will begin with four electric bus on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route.
ETO Motors, a leader in electric mobility, has teamed up with FlixBus India to develop the first intercity electric bus service between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. This partnership, which marks FlixBus India’s first anniversary, is a significant step toward sustainable travel in India, supporting the country’s goal of a cleaner, greener future.
The electric vehicle (EV) trial on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route would include four electric buses. A two-week test run starting in late February will analyse performance and tweak the service. Following that, a 12-week trial will track key metrics such as battery efficiency and passenger patterns.
Minister Prabhakar expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The FlixBus and the ETO Motors will work together to address the long-distance sustainable mobility needs of people in Telangana and the southern region with a technology-driven alternative.”
Rajeev YSR, Group CMO at ETO Motors, stated, “By combining our knowledge, the buses will be backed by fast-charging stations equipped with 240 KW chargers, assuring smooth operations and preventing overheating. The fleet will be outfitted with innovative safety technologies such as dashcams, GPS, and ADAS to ensure a safe and comfortable ride.
Shri Ponnam Prabhakar, Minister of Transport and BC Welfare for the Government of Telangana kicked off the inaugural event at ITC Kakatiya in Hyderabad. Alexander Reck, Counsellor for Digital and Transport at the German Embassy in New Delhi, Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus India, and Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunder Plus and Group Chief Marketing Officer of ETO Group, were also present.
