ESR India invites the launch of its first integrated EV charging station at Taloja Logistics Park: powered by renewable energy, supporting sustainable development.
ESR Group, a leading institutional-grade real estate manager in the Asia-Pacific region, has successfully deployed India’s first integrated Electric Vehicle (EV) mega-charging hub. This hub is located at its Grade A Taloja Industrial and Logistics Park in Maharashtra, India.
The introduction of the electric versions in their portfolio highlights the company’s unprecedented move in its pursuit of supporting electric vehicle trends while keeping to its commitment to sustainability. The new EV charging station, which is powered 100% by renewable energy from its rooftop solar panels, is a testament to ESR’s core values of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Sustainability Initiative
The EV charging station aligns with the 2030 Roadmap for Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) developed by ESR as a pledge to decarbonise the operations and contribute towards a sustainable industry across the entire real estate asset class. The use of renewable energy to power the charging infrastructure at ESR is also a crucial first step in reducing the logistics sector and the transportation industry’s carbon footprint and the Indian government’s ambitious net-zero emissions target of 2070.
Energy Efficiency
The newly installed EV charging station can accommodate up to 10 electric vehicles for simultaneous charging and supports multiple EV models. It will serve the logistical needs of the partner companies and their tenants at ESR’s Taloja logistics park. The station is equipped with six 7.4 kW charging stations for four-wheeled vehicles and three 3.3 kW stations for two-wheeled vehicles. The stations will be positioned to provide the option for all parkgoers to charge easily.
Business and Tenant Benefits
The Taloja Logistics Park EV charging station would be a big boon for companies operating from the park. Supporting EV Charging: The ability to charge multiple models of electric vehicles supports the move towards more sustainable, eco-friendly business practices. Spread across 14 buildings, ESR Taloja has over 1.9 million square feet of space across multiple sectors — light industry, e-commerce, cold chain logistics, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and automobiles.
That means the park’s tenants will benefit further from being able to charge their electric vehicles on the premises rather than having employees and visitors rely on an outside charging infrastructure. Increased convenience is not only helping drive electric vehicle adoption but also contributing to the park’s image as a green place to do business.
Expanding EV Infrastructure
ESR India is rolling out comprehensive EV charging networks across its entire portfolio of industrial and logistics parks in India. As a result, the firm is positioning itself to cater to filling the requirement for businesses by the increased consumer demand for EVs in the market and growing awareness around the focus on environmental impact.
Abhijit Malkani, CEO of ESR India, said, “ESR India is committed to creating sustainable developments. He said, “ESR is committed to transforming the way we do business, in recognition of the urgency and importance of sustainable development. We are building an ecosystem that cares for sustainability but also improves operational efficiency and delivers long-term value to our stakeholders.
Taloja Logistics Park and its Strategic Location
ESR Taloja, situated in the Taloja industrial hub in Maharashtra, is strategically a part of the Mumbai industrial corridor. Located near the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and India’s second-largest handling port, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), the park is located beside the Taloja Manufacturing Area. This central location offers immediate access to major transportation routes and key supply chains, making it a prime destination for businesses spanning numerous industries.
The logistics park provides customised & standard buildings with flexible solutions for multiple sectors. They include light industrial, electronics, cold chain logistics, pharmaceuticals, energy, R&D, packaging, automobiles, auto ancillaries, third-party logistics, and e-commerce. With the increasing demand for logistics infrastructure and services, ESR Taloja is in a favorable position to deliver essential space and amenities that enable businesses to operate and expand.
ESR’s Green Building Certification
To achieve sustainable development, ESR Taloja also received IGBC Gold ratings for energy and water-efficient design from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). This highlights the led park’s mission to reduce its environmental footprint as well as offer its tenants a green, sustainable working environment. ESR is also rolling out more energy-efficient design features across its portfolio to help reduce total outgoings and the carbon footprint of tenants.
ESR would look to install rooftop solar panels at its properties where feasible to maximise the capacity of renewable generation and reduce its dependence on non-renewable sources of energy.
This EV charging station marks another prominent step in a burgeoning commitment to sustainability and green energy by ESR India. The renewable energy-enabled charging infrastructure by ESR allows enterprises to adopt electric vehicles while also tying the charging station to India’s national environmental goals. With this progressive step, ESR drives up electric vehicle adoption while strengthening its sustainable logistics solutions credentials. ESR has solved this puzzle so that it can now scale up in a carbon-conscious and energy-efficient way and intends to expand similar infrastructure across its Indian portfolio.
