BYD unveiled the Sealion 7 at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The brand has already begun accepting reservations for the SUV, which costs Rs 70,000. However, the electric SUV’s price has yet to be confirmed. Once provided, it will be the brand’s fourth electric vehicle in India, following the eMax 7, Atto 3, and Seal.
The Design and Top Features
The BYD Sealion 7 unveiled at the Expo sports a front fascia similar to the Seal sedan offered in the country. The headlamps are slim, and the front bumper appears to be aerodynamic. The SUV also gets some curves on the bonnet. All of this is accented by a unique set of alloy wheels contained in flared-out wheel arches. The BYD Sealion 7 boasts numerous features. The features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment cluster, two-zone automatic climate control, a suite of ADAS technologies, a 12-speaker audio system, and a panoramic sunroof.
The Specifications
The BYD Sealion 7 has an 82.56 kWh battery pack hidden behind its skin. In India, the brand offers two options: RWD and AWD. The RWD has a single electric motor that delivers 308 horsepower and 380 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the AWD electric SUV produces 523 horsepower and 690 Nm of peak torque. The RWD variant is said to have a range of 567 kilometres on a single charge, while the AWD version has a somewhat reduced range of 542 kilometres.
Standout Features
The BYD Sealion 7 will improve your driving experience with some noteworthy features that include:
- Panoramic glass roof
- Heated steering wheel
- Front seats are heated, vented, and power-adjustable, including lumbar support.
- Features include dual-zone automated climate control, ambient lighting, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functions

The Rivals
The BYD Sealion 7 could face stiff competition in India’s electric vehicle market. Its primary competitors include the Tata Nexon EV Max, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Kia EV9. The Tata Nexon EV Max is well-known for its affordability and practicality, making it appealing to budget-conscious customers. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 stands out for its futuristic design and advanced features. The Kia EV9 is another strong contender in the premium electric SUV sector, with a large interior and cutting-edge features. Despite the competition, the BYD Sealion 7’s superior range, luxury decor, and advanced features make it an excellent pick in this category.
