The BYD Sealion 7 has 82.5 kWh with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options.
The BYD Sealion 7 has been officially launched in India today, making for yet another addition to the company’s electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. As a growing and more premium SUV in the lineup than the Seal sedan, the Sealion 7 has fantastic styling and loads of kit. The EV is sold in Premium and Performance trims.

Distinct Design
This is the Sealion 7, which carries some design elements over from BYD’s Seal model but has its presence. It features a blanked-off grille, slim LED headlights, and a coupe-like roof. This could include the flush door handles and the flashy alloys that the SUV gets. At over 4.8 meters long, it’s a big beast with aggressive lines and creases that help to enhance its sporty nature.
Premium Interior
The cabin itself is finished in FOAM high-quality materials throughout. It will feature a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, combined with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The steering wheel has four spokes to aid comfort and control, and a heads-up display (HUD) using augmented reality (AR) technology is available to provide essential info to the driver. Inside, there are ventilated front seats with leather upholstery along with dual-zone automatic climate control.
Loaded Features
BYD Sealion 7 comes loaded with features including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a multi-colour ambient lighting setup, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety, meanwhile, is fortified by the full suite of 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
Capable Powertrain
Both RWD and AWD variants of the Sea Lion 7 are powered by an 82.56 kWh battery pack. The Premium variant offers 308 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, and the Performance variant has 523 bhp and 690 Nm of torque. Performance variant with 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds with the Premium variant with 0 to 100 km/h in around 6.7 seconds. The Premium variant is said to be able to cover around 567 km, whereas the Performance variant has a range of around 542 km.
Price and Competition
Pricing for the BYD Sealion 7 begins at around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). It joins other luxury electric SUVs like the BMW iX1, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
BYD has launched the Sealion 7, an electric SUV designed for the Indian market, with deliveries of this model expected to start from March 7, 2025, for the first customers that paid a token amount of Rs 70,000 to book their vehicles from January 18.
