The BYD Sealion 7 will launch in India on February 17, 2025. This electric SUV boasts an impressive range, features, and performance. Bookings are now open!
BYD’s Ocean series now includes the BYD Sealion 7, which debuted at the Auto Expo in April 2025 and will be released on February 17, 2025. The Sealion 7 will be built on the company’s e-Platform 3.0, just like the Seal sedan. Bookings for a token amount of ₹70,000 have already started. Its target market includes direct rivals like the Kia EV6 driver and the BMW iX1.
Launch and Offers
BYD Sealion 7 will debut on February 17, 2025. BYD also announced some early bird benefits: the first 70 customers will receive a 7-year/1.5 lakh km warranty and a free 7 kW home charger. In addition, as a launch offer, BYD Sealion 7 will match the ₹70,000 booking amount. The initial 70 units will be delivered on March 7.
Variants and Power
Sealion 7 will be available in two versions—Premium and Performance. Every variant will come with an 82.56kWh battery pack. It is RWD-based with a Premium variant (313 bhp and 380 Nm) and a Performance variant (AWD with 530 bhp and 690 Nm). The performance variant will do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds.
Exterior Design
Sea lions inspire the BYD Sealion 7’s design which features plenty of sharp lines and cuts all over. It comes with angular headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, vents, and huge front air intakes. The sides sport sharp creases, alloy wheels designed for aerodynamics, flush door handles, and heavy cladding across the wheel arches. The rear gets a sharp roof-mounted spoiler and connected LED taillamps. It comes in Cosmos Black, Atlantis Gray, Aurora White, and Shark Gray.
Interior Features
The interior features a 4-spoke steering wheel, a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, and a 10.25-inch driver’s display. It also includes dual wireless phone chargers along with a small drive selector. Other features include a head-up display, power tailgate, 12-speaker audio system, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable front seats with memory function.
Safety Suite
Sealion 7 is built for safety and it comes with 9 airbags, 360-degree camera, TPMS, and other safety features. Additionally, it has features such as front and rear parking sensors, hill hold control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, lane departure assist, blind spot detection, and forward collision alert, all of which are part of the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Battery and Range
So far, the battery powers of the BYD Sealion 7 are provided by an 82.56kWh battery pack. While the Premium variant is rated for a range of up to 567 km, the Performance variant offers a range of 542 km. It shares the battery and powertrain specs with the BYD Seal sedan.
Market Competition
The BYD Sealion 7 will likely be priced at ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom). Rival vehicles include the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BMW iX1. Sealion 7 targets performance, range, and features in electric SUV space.
