BMW Group launched its iX1 LWB electric SUV in India as a locally produced vehicle with improved styling and modern technology integration.
The Indian automotive industry is experiencing fundamental shifts because electric vehicles (EVs) have entered the market. BMW Group India made its debut homegrown electric vehicle appearance by manufacturing the locally produced iX1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The iX1 LWB enters a rapidly growing electric SUV market at its ₹49 lakh dealer price point.
Design and Dimensions
The BMW iX1 LWB shows off its large proportions through a length of 4,616 mm and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. As the longest vehicle in its class, the iX1 LWB delivers abundant interior dimensions that benefit rear cabin occupants with extra legroom. Concurrent with its long wheelbase appearance comes enhanced passenger space which produces superior comfort for persons contrasted to standard models.
Exterior Features
The iX1 LWB maintains the sporty appearance of the X1 while incorporating EV characteristics like sealed front aerodynamics technology and additional M Sport upgrades. This model features LED projector headlights together with a sleek rear diffuser and rides on 18-inch M-Light alloy wheels. BMW offers this model in five metallic color options: Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue, and Sparkling Copper Grey.
Single-Motor Setup
A single-motor (iX1 eDrive20L) system powers the iX1 LWB while providing both 201 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. This SUV’s single-motor configuration successfully fulfills the performance requirements that exceeded the original two-motor system selection.
Range and Charging Capabilities
The iX1 LWB stands out by providing a MIDC range of 531 kilometers which exceeds the previous WLTP range of 440 kilometers. When compared to alternative electric SUV options this extended operational distance provides the iX1 LWB with significant market advantage. Users can benefit from DC fast charging functions reaching 130 kW levels which deliver fast recharging abilities. Equipped AC charging enables a speed of 11 kW which requires about 6 hours and 30 minutes to obtain a complete charge from zero percent to a hundred percent charge.
Luxurious Cabin
A modern premium atmosphere dominates throughout the BMW iX1 LWB cabin while staying true to its luxury positioning. The interior places the driver at the center before featuring vegan Veganza leather upholstery across its surfaces. The SUV has two screens with an infotainment system on top at 10.7 inches and the driver display underneath at 10.25 inches for simple device operation.
Key Features
The SUV is equipped with numerous high-end features designed for comfort and convenience:
- Panoramic sunroof
- 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
- Wireless Charging
- Multiple airbags and an electronic parking brake together with a parking assistant package comprise a complete safety package.
The built-in features provide enjoyable driving conditions together with improved journey comfort.

The iX1 LWB faces competition from the Mercedes-Benz EQA together with Volvo EX40 and the Kia EV6 as well as the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
