New variant Bajaj Chetak 3001 gets a range of 127 km and aims to make electric mobility more accessible.
Bajaj Auto has officially unveiled a new, more accessible version of its famous Chetak electric scooter, the Chetak 3001. Priced at an introductory cost of Rs. 99,990, this new model intends to extend the popularity of electric two-wheelers in India. Sales-wise, Bajaj ranked second in total sales last month, selling 21,770 units, trailing only TVS Motor, which sold 24,560 units, and Ola Electric came in third with 8,499 units.
Performance & Key Specifications
According to reports, it might become Bajaj’s most affordable electric scooter so far and replace the latest Chetak 2903, though Bajaj has yet to confirm this. If so, the Chetak 3001 will be powered by a new 3.1 kW motor, a 3 kWh battery pack, and a top speed of 62 kmph. It is an excellent alternative for daily commutes and city driving, with a claimed range of 127 kilometres on a single charge.
The revised battery architecture lowers the scooter’s centre of gravity, increasing riding stability and allowing for a 35-litre under seat boot. The Chetak 3001 also shines in terms of charging convenience, with a 750W charger that can charge the battery from 0% to 80% in 3 hours and 50 minutes, making it one of the fastest in its class. It also comes equipped with a handful of digital add-ons as a tech upgrade.
In addition to its performance, the Chetak 3001 has practical rider features including music and call controls, auto-off turn signals, reverse alert, hill-hold assistance, and ‘bring me home’ lighting. The Chetak 3001 draws on the tradition of Bajaj’s electric lineup with its trademark steel body, making it the only electric scooter in its class with a full metal shell—ideal for people who choose durability over plastic build. It also has an IP67 rating, meaning it can survive water, dust, and other common riding conditions such as pothole splashes or sudden downpours.
The Price & Expected Delivery
The Chetak 3001’s volume sales will also begin shortly through Amazon, providing buyers with a simple and accessible purchase option, with customer deliveries scheduled in the coming weeks. Speaking at the launch, Eric Vas, President of Bajaj Auto Ltd.’s Urbanite Business Unit, said, “Chetak 3001 establishes the standard for mass adoption of electric scooters.” Built on the next-generation platform, it provides the range and performance that Indian scooter customers expect – distraction-free riding with a sense of reliability and service. The Chetak 3001 is the everyday electric scooter that will replace petrol scooters; it’s bigger, stronger, and fully Lifeproof, priced at Rs 99,990/- ex-showroom.”
Bajaj’s new model Chetak 3001 shows that the brand has taken things seriously about extending its electric scooters lineup and reaching new customers. The latest lineup focuses more on affordability while offering a useful range for daily travel, and deliveries are scheduled to begin soon at Bajaj dealerships.
The 3503, 3502, and 3501 are the next most affordable models in Bajaj’s Chetak portfolio, after the Chetak 2903. The prices start at Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom), and the new Chetak 3001 may soon be the most affordable Chetak scooter, with an estimated price of about Rs 1 lakh.
