Amazon India partners with Gentari to deploy 10,000 EVs by 2025, enhancing last-mile deliveries and supporting India’s net-zero goals.
Amazon India has recently signed a nodal agreement with Gentari Green Mobility which is a foremost electric mobility company to bolster the firm’s EV deployment plans at a fast pace. The collaboration is to help Amazon India finally meet its challenge of putting 10,000 EVs for last mile deliveries by 2025.
EV Deployment and Fleet Management
As per this tie-up, Gentari will have to arrange electric vehicles for Amazon India’s fleet in the next three years. Further, Gentari will offer end-to-end fleet management to the Amazon Delivery Service Providers (DSPs). This shall guarantee the proper operation and maintenance of the Over the Counter EV fleet, thus boosting the continuation of Amazon’s sustainability plans.
Enhanced Access for DSPs
The tie-up will allow DSPs more access to electric three-wheelers and thus improve their operation for delivering Amazon packages. In this regard, Abhinav Singh, the Vice President of Operations at Amazon India, reiterated the company’s determination for its delivery partners to have an option to get proper electric vehicles, end-to-end vehicle life cycle management, adequate charging and parking amenities.
Progress Toward EV Goals
Amazon India had already placed over 7,200 REVs across the country before the end of 2023. The company is also well on course to achieving the commitment it has made to have 10,000 electric vehicles by the year 2025. Amazon India has more than 1000 delivery centers and this EV deployment happens in more than 400 cities which shows the scope of this implementation.
Backing India’s Net Zero Ambitions
Gentari Green Mobility India’s CEO Nikhil Thomas revealed a lot of hopes that this partnership will boost India’s net-zero targets. He was of the view that scaling up the use of electric vehicles should lead to a cleaner and more sustainable transport system in India.
Gentari’s Service Offerings
The Full Suite Services that Gentari Green Mobility India delivers range from Charging Points, Subscriptions through Vehicle as a Service (VaaS), to Value Added Services. These plans will help Amazon India to achieve its plans of deploying electric vehicles in the country and also help in the overall electrification of the transportation backbone of India.
