A new landmark has been achieved by Tata Motors in the Indian EV market with Tata Tiago Electric Car crossing 50,000 units in sales. Officially introduced in September 2022 and made available for purchase starting February of 2023, the Tata Tiago EV milks the brand’s reputation for dependability and security to become one of the market’s go-to EV hatchback models.
Specifications and Pricing
The Tata Tiago EV is a 5-seater mid-sized compact vehicle available in four trim levels—XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+Lux—and five colours – Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Pristine White, and Midnight Plum. It also provides two driving settings; City and Sport to meet the distinct driving requirements.
Battery and performance choices are a standard 19.2 kWh battery and a long-range 24 kWh battery with ranges of 250 to 315 km per charge according to MIDC standards. Depending on the battery pack, the EV is equipped with one of two electric motors: a 45 kW drive motor that produces 60 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, or a 55 kW motor that delivers up to 74 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The charging options include a level 2, 3.3kW or a level 3 which is a faster 7.2kW home charger. The prices of the Tiago EV begin at Rs. 7.99 lakh that goes up to Rs. 11.49 lakh for the top-end variants.

To celebrate the roll out of the 50,000th vehicle Tata Motors has declared that Tiago EV’s prices will be slashed by up to Rs. 70,000 for a limited period to help encourage customers looking for an eco-friendly mode of transport.
Remarkable Milestones
The Tata Tiago EV was able to hit the 10,000 units mark in terms of sales within the first few months of delivering its units and similarly, they were able to receive a record of 10,000 bookings within the 24 hours of its launch. This not only shows Tata’s readiness to push for EV’s but also shows that the initial work has been done on solidifying its path for India’s Electric Vehicle Industry showing a possible tomorrow of electric mobility.
