Range Rover Velar EV debuts in 2024 with a redesigned look, all-electric powertrain, and new luxury features on the EMA platform.
This is the first time that the next Range Rover Velar EV has been caught testing, suggesting substantial changes from the current model. Launched back in 2017 the Velar is still waiting for its major update and from the looks of it these spy shots show some promising changes. The next-gen Velar is expected to be launched with all-electric powertrains that will be quite a shift from the current line up of petrol and diesel cars.
Design and Styling Updates
Pursuant to the spy images provided by Motor.es, the Velar EV will undergo a radical design transformation. There are more swept-back headlamps and front that has been redesigned while the flush door handles remain prominent. In the side profile, the shoulder line appears more prominent while in the rear it has suggested indications that slim LED tail lamps could be part of the design and connected by a strip bearing the Range Rover emblem as seen on Range Rover Sport.
While the interior layout is not fully identifiable, the Velar EV is likely to incorporate larger digital screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster, in addition to a range of new features that would position it at a higher luxury level than the outgoing model.
Platform and Powertrain
The Range Rover Velar EV will be returned to production using Range Rover’s Electric Modular Architecture or EMA platform that is only for electric cars. While the existing Velar is available with both petrol and diesel powertrains, the new model will come solely as an electric vehicle. Further details about their battery power and electric range will be shared closer to the market launch of the car, expected to take place in 2024.
